CANOPY, 2018
Canopy was a configuration of three-dimensional semi-transparent forms built from a blueprint of circles within circles to offer a dynamic visual effect with shifting perspectives. This commission was part of major atrium renovations for a JBG Smith property in Chrystal City, Virginia by interior architects HKS Washington, DC, with whom our studio worked in close conversation. The project goal was to introduce ephemeral organic forms into the strict geometry of the massive granite space, activating a dominant vertical volume and offering within an imposing open space a sense of more intimate human scale.
